Biography

After studying music at The University of North Carolina and Berklee Collage in Boston, Mr. Garrett began his career as a studio assistantat Boston's Intermedia Sound in 1978. Sessions with Burt Bacharach, Carley Simon, The Cars and Aerosmith got things off to a quick start.

In 1980, Mr. Garrett became an independent producer/engineer and started his own independent record label, Alpha-Media Records. With the 80's came work with a wide variety of great artist including 'til Tuesday, O Positive, Rubber Rodeo, Pink Caddilac, The Buddy System, Aztec Camera, New Edition, The Stylistics, Michael Jonzun and New Kids on the Block. A 1987 move to New York City got started with sessions with Slayer, Mr.Crowes Garden (The Black Crowes), Hanoi Rocks, Golden Palominos, Will Sexton, Treat Her Right, and Cyndi Lauper.

In 1991, Mr. Garrett became the in house producer/engineer for Sony/ATV Music Publishing, creating a studio within Sony's corporate headquarters on Madison Avenue. Sessions there have included Everything but the Girl, Bryan Adams, Groove Theory, Lauren Hill and John Waite.

In 1993, Mr. Garrett scored his first film "Back in the Days" that went on to The Toronto and Sundance film Festivals starting a new phase of his career. To date he has composed scores and/or songs for 17 films and various music for TV including Cinemax, Lifetime, American Movie Classics and The Travel Channel as well as produce/engineer scores by other composers including Pat Irwin and Andrew Hollander.

In 1999 Mr. Garrett began working with the legendary John Cale, engineering and mixing several albums and film scores including "American Psycho". As of 2000, Mr. Garrett continues to improve the Sony/ATV studio (adding Pro Tools Mix Plus 6/99) and planning future projects for his clients and Electra Craft as well launching his new companies Craft Disc and Cine Song.
